Velankani Information Systems seeded the formation of
the Velankani Group, a family of independent companies
that provides a portfolio of information-technology,
communications technology, infrastructure and financial
resources needed to provide end-to-end business solutions.
Velankani Information Systems was established in 1985
to provide software development resources to AT&T
and other large telecommunications companies. During
that time, Velankani gained a strong reputation of being
a reliable source for highly qualified professionals
who had a comprehensive understanding of both the technical
and process sides of the telecommunications industry.
In 1996, the Telecommunications industry in the United
States underwent significant changes with the passage
of the Telecommunications Act. As a result, new market
entrants quickly emerged to provide local services.
At the same time, the phenomenal growth in Internet
services and the development of IP technology created
new challenges in the control and management of networks
and digital equipment. Soon, TMN standards-based equipment
with embedded systems and controls became the norm.
These changes presented opportunities for Velankani
to expand its business by providing the technical and
managerial expertise that was desperately needed by
new Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Communications
software product houses, and providers of digital technology
and networks. By utilizing existing employees who had
gained experience in all facets of the Telecommunications
industry, including TMN, and by recruiting experienced
managers, software developers, and project managers,
Velankani built a formidable staff of skilled professionals
with the first-hand knowledge needed to lead and manage
development and implementation projects for the new
breed of carriers that were emerging.
Since 1998, Velankani has substantially increased its
client base and has established strategic alliances
with Communications software product houses and providers
of digital technology and networks. In 1999 Velankani
established its operations in Bangalore, India which
have allowed it to expand its services to include offshore
capabilities. Since 1999, Velankani has reduced its
dependence on its original business model and expanded
its focus to provide a portfolio of information-technology,
communications technology, infrastructure and financial
resources needed to provide end-to-end business solutions.
Each of the following companies operates independently,
without a holding company, but is guided by Velankani
Group founders. Companies may cooperate in providing
solutions, engage in joint marketing activities and
benefit from a common management structure.
