Enterprise IAD experience
Introduction
For a veteran startup, credited with the first Pure Optical Networking, Velankani took the prime responsibility for the development of a next generation Enterprise Integrated Access Device (IAD) based on CableLabs initiative for Embedded DOCSIS. The Enterprise IAD is a compact device that cost-effectively delivers 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, VoIP or TDM based managed services to medium and small enterprises over a DOCSIS 1.1/2.0 infrastructure. This platform enables the cable operators to deploy high margin service bundles for medium to small enterprises within reach of their existing Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC) infrastructure.
This Enterprise IAD bridges the gap from today's legacy circuit-switched networks to tomorrow's converged packet networks. This platform is designed to interoperate with DOCSIS 1.1/2.0 compliant Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS's) without impacting their reach or require upgrade the current infrastructure used for residential cable modem services.
The Enterprise IAD also establishes a clear demarcation of the carrier's Point of Interface at the customer premise with all the necessary management and 'Smartjack' OAM functions to maintain Service Level Agreements. Voice quality enhancement mechanisms are in place that support Bi-Directional Echo Cancellation and Packet Loss Concealment.
Velankani's expertise with network synchronization and clock recovery led to the most critical achievement in terms of developing a clock recovery mechanism. Velankani performed the roles of system engineering, development and trial support for our customer.
Velankani contributed to product feature matrix, product architecture, development, staging and successful lab trial at a leading cable operator
